Freshman Seminar

Freshman Seminar is a half-unit course designed to assist ninth graders with the transition from Middle School to High School. Course content includes life skills, career exploration, character development, leadership skills, soft skills (necessary skills), and organizational skills.  We also explore all of the classes offered at the CCTI and research the 16 Career Clusters.

After Freshman Seminar, students should have a Resume, as well as an idea on a career that they would like to go into.  Also, each student will be required to construct a 10-year plan. The students get to hear and ask questions from many guest speakers such as; P2P (Pathways to Possibilities), Job Win Center, Mississippi Power, Chevron, Ingalls Shipbuilding, Veterinarians, Nurses, Military Officers, Bankers, and Colleges.  The ultimate goal of the program is to help students choose a line and to get those students to the front of that line.
